Discover the Marvelous Koundouros Beach

Within 20 minutes’ driving distance from Kea Village, on the northwest part of the island, Koundouros Beach is found. It is among the most popular beaches of the island, since it is very close to Ioulis, Kea’s capital. Once you arrive at the beach you will find several yachts anchored in the open sea, as Kea is very close to the mainland and visitors come to spend their weekend here.

Along the beach there are a few restored stone mills that enhance the area’s beauty. It is well protected from the north winds, which are very common in Cycladic islands, therefore the weather will not cause you any discomfort. It is very well equipped, and there also a few taverns and cafes where you can rest and taste some local foods and fresh fish.

Koundouros area is mostly under construction, since there are many who wish to build here their summer houses. However, this will not cause you any discomfort since you will still enjoy the beautiful view, the calming sound of the waves, and the crystal clear waters of Koundouros beach.

If you feel like walking along the coast, you will find some other beaches located really close. Kambi beach and the gorge of Vathirema are a few among them. Kambi beach is also a great place for you to swim, surrounded by acorn trees. At the end of the gorge there is also a beautiful but remote area, called Liparo beach.

Spend a day at this gorgeous corner of the island, explore and relax under the warming summer sun. If the night finds you here, you have so many options, from a nice quiet dinner to a few drinks at the beach bar with vibrant life and nice summer music.
